September 6, 20178 yr I am making some wood pieces of a popular football logo for friends as Christmas gifts. Since I am giving as gifts, can the team come after me for infringement? Edited December 5, 20178 yr by Ron Dudelston tags added
September 6, 20178 yr Technically maybe. You are not using their logo to make money, but the technical claim would sound like this: Unauthorized use of copyrighted material diminishes the ability of the owner to sell into the market segment that the unauthorized media is occupying. Will they chase you around? Bloody unlikely, unless you taunt them with it. And it is private property. Edited September 6, 20178 yr by Cliff
September 6, 20178 yr I seriously doubt if they would. Especially since these are gifts and not for profit. I know a local sheet metal worker who has been making great looking aluminum Patriot's logos as gifts. If you started making them by the hundreds for profit, then, you might have a problem. September 6, 20178 yr Yes. Will they? Not likely. How about change your design? ive been asked to do similar things related to cars. I passed. They have more lawyer money than I do. Edited September 6, 20178 yr by DAB
