September 1, 20178 yr I'd be afraid to use my bench if It was refinished. I do take the paint scraper to the top every once in awhile to get the glue drops off.
September 1, 20178 yr I need a workbench, I mean a workbench for hand tooling, I am very tired of the shortcomings of my current bench.

September 2, 20178 yr Author One of my first serious ww projects was a Tage Frid cabinetmaker's bench. I think it was a good exercise because it had many common joints in it - rabbet, groove and spline, mortise and tenon, dovetail, bridle, half-lap, and probably a few more I don't remember. I just wish it was a bit wider -- does not work well for assembly and glue up -- hence the auxiliary assembly table.

September 2, 20178 yr Author I was from when I first joined the Cincinnati Woodworking Club. We'd just had Tage in for a weekend seminar. They bought the lumber, the hardware, and FWW plans. Unfortunately, there was a typo in the plans and it turned out way too high. Fortunately, it was too high by just the amount of the tenon on the leg, so cut it off and re-cut the tenon. I'd already adjusted up for my height.

That is so neat, what a great class that must of been, and you have bragging rights, you worked with Tage!
