August 10, 20178 yr Recently, we lost a friend. He had worked at the school my wife taught at for 14 years as a teacher and football coach for the junior high team. A memorial was held for him this evening at the school. I had been asked to make a sign that would go with a tree they planned to plant in his honor. Someone sent the information they wanted on the sign. I designed the sign and carved it. My sweetie painted the text and the footballs. I used white oak for the wood, sanded it and then sprayed it with Shellac. After it had dried, I covered it with removable contact paper and commenced to carving. When the CNC was finished, my sweetie painted the engraved text with Rust-Oleum Kona and painted the footballs with acrylic paint. Then the contact paper was removed and several coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane Clear Semi-Gloss finish. We have had a lot of rain lately so the memorial was held at the school this evening in the gym. Also, the guy in charge (Chuck's best friend) has decided that the sign will be placed in the trophy case so it won't be subject to vandalism in the future. Everyone loved the sign. I am so glad we were able to help.
