August 1, 20178 yr Popular Post Can't remember when we bought this shop on wheels but I know I been putting the under pinning off as long as I could. Well she finally made up her mind and said my size 12 boots are gonna be kicking your rear if you don't get started on the underpinning you promised two or three years ago. So I finally started laying out the things I would need and yesterday morning I actually started working on keeping her happy. I got this much done and would you know it, it started raining, or maybe I was hoping for rain or a blizzard or something. She wouldn't even let me stop to get a drink of water.... I can imagine what she is thinking. It was a little easier reading her mind especially after seeing that gun she is trying to hide. Well it finally started getting my tools wet so I says these things cost too much and they will all rust or something and I could get electrocuted even...I know everyone knows what a pouted frown looks like but she finally let me stop for the day. Now go put that gun up!!!!!!!
August 1, 20178 yr At least she cares about the tools getting rusty. Do you really think the electrocuted part bothers her? She is holding the gun to you.
August 2, 20178 yr Author I forgot to mention she also canned a few jars of pickle peaches yesterday. In the years past before the fruit would get ripe the raccoons and foxes and birds would eat 90% of everything before it would get ripe enough to pick either for eating fresh or canning. But this year I tried something different. I ran some sprinklers on the trees for three days and three nights after I noticed the birds were starting to peck holes in the fruit... Cost wise, I don't think I will look at the electric bill for it might rattle my brain.
August 2, 20178 yr Author Popular Post Hey its lightly raining again this morning, Wed. and I think I heard her say she was heading to town to get me a rain suit. She was mumbling something about once I get him started on a project I will keep him on it until it is finished no matter what it takes. I hope its a red one, I don't like yellow. I saw one once that had red horns sticking out the top. Now that would do me just fine. This one happened to be on a five year old and he sure was cute. Maybe it will have a mask also......and maybe it will come with Wasp repellent..

August 3, 20178 yr You know she is getting you a yellow one. That way you will be mad and work faster to get done and get it off.
August 4, 20178 yr Author I guess yellow would be okay. But hey I got to stop work today.. For the fifth time in the last 2 1/2 weeks I got stung again by a wasp.Three of the times it was on the long finger on my left hand. Left handed so it reaches and does the work while the other hand waves by by The other two was on my left ear and the left cheek under my ear. Every time the swelling gets worse. I got finished on the side towards the house and I told her the other side can wait till this fall when the wasp are gone. All the other times I got stung when I was clearing the forest but this time the nest is under the trailer somewhere and there are too many places where I hold while drilling holes so its best to not crawl under there looking. there is just no way to clear out unknown nest before I start drilling. Besides I found another auction for this Sat. a hundred miles or so from here so I can sit and soothe the sting for a while. Why do I keep getting stung on the left side and the left hand, I'm left handed and it does all the work while the right hand waves by by or what ever. I really don't know what the left hand does when I'm working....I've never watched it while I'm working????? Edited August 4, 20178 yr by Smallpatch

Hey Patch, take this serious and maybe see your doctor. Some people can develop and allergic reaction to stings (bees, wasp, hornets) who previously never had any problems. One instance I'm aware, a former customer of mine was stung several times over a short period of time (wasps / less than a week). The next time he was stung it was by a yellow jacket and he immediately went into anaphylactic shock. He likely would have died if his son-in-law had not been present to call 911 and as a former police officer begin to administer CPR. His doctor told him this can occur. He had to begin carrying one of those "kits" to administer an antidote should he ever be stung again. Please check with your doctor and let him know the number of times you've been stung recently and that the swelling has gotten worse...let us know what the Doctor had to say
August 4, 20178 yr Author Dave thats why I put the other side of the underpinning off till the wasp leave for the winter. Our son use to carry something subscribed by the doctor and if he didn't take it when bitten or stung he would have to go to the emergency room for he would go into shock. Funny for I didn't even think of getting stung for the two days it took to cover the south and east sides . So I guess I was lucky and since we didn't get into any of their nest they must prefer under the west side. I'm sure temp and breezes have something to do with where they go start their families. I did scout out the brush and small trees fairly good before I started cutting and clearing them away but I still missed 4 or 5 nest and got stung there. I swell up really bad from wasp and when wife got stung by the hornet, not much swelling but a large area was dark red for more than a week.

Good decision on your part to hold off in light of the recent occurrences. I can't speak to anaphylactic shock being hereditary because I don't have a clue, but obviously it's occurred in your family. Just be careful out there. Even fire ant stings/bites can trigger it. I still suggest to talk to your Doctor about the most recent episodes. Don't make me come down there and put you in a "time-out" chair!

I have been told by the doctor, that since my dad is very allergic to bee stings, I need to be careful also, just because. I also know that although you may not be allergic to bee stings now, you can develop into being allergic over time if you repeatedly get stung. Your body will lose its "immunity" to the stings
August 4, 20178 yr Author Gene I did try a bug bomb on my wife once. Sure enough, she cleared me out..... That reminds me , is anyone old enough to have bought a set of woven nylon seat covers for your car way back when. I bought a set for my 46 chevy from Fingerhut and installed them my self. Which was the only way to get them on the seats ....Oh some shops would sell and install but hey installation added 5 or 6 dollars to the price and why would anyone pay to have it done? anyway, the model T coils were really popular in the farming country we lived in and you could insert two wires under the seat covers hooked to a coil and have both ends sticking out just a hair or so. When someone sat down in the passenger seat and got comfortable I would lean over towards the floor board and turn on the coil and watch the yelling start. These things started a few friendly fights but hey no body ever got shot like what might happen now a days....but then in 55 the cars switched to 12 volt and better seats and Fingerhut more than likely got pissed and the model T coils went back on the shelves. Lots of holes got burned into the fingerhut seat covers back then from falling ashes from smoking...
August 4, 20178 yr One of the guys in my barracks in Anchorage AK, had a sweetly restored '52 ford convertible. During the summer, he hardly ever put the top up. One day....or night...who can tell...I looked out the third story window and saw a bull moose chomping away on his woven seat covers. Later, found out he didn't stop at the covers. He shredded the whole front seat.
