July 26, 20179 yr Author comment_118291 Yep, the only thing I've ever done with "weathered wood" was a photo of a barn that I framed with wood from one of my dad's tomato stakes. Judiciously cut so no fresh cuts exposed. I hate working on that wood from Restoration Hardware, Arhaus and the like. It's almost impossible to repair. And I don't understand why someone would spend 5 figures on furniture that looked like it came out of a barn. I worked on some RH stuff a few years ago, a "deconstructed" upholstered chair. The frame was exposed and the first fabric you saw on the outside arms and back was the burlap lining for the inside. The aged the wood and even put in some faux tack holes around the outside of the frame and an occasional tack with a tuft of cotton to make it look like it had been taken apart. Landfill in 7 years.
