HF 20 volt lithium tools

Featured Replies

Harbor freight just came out with these. I hope they have a chuck that will hold things. I got a drill there years ago and the chuck would not stay tight

Never had a problem with their chuck on the 18V I bought several years ago...of course maybe because I used it so little since the batteries were nothing but junk:angry:. They were NICAD though...still the battery packs seem to weigh about 1/2 of 18V Ryobi...would not hold a charge and after a few re-charges would not take a charge. I'll never buy another cordless anything from H-F.

SIL received a 3/8", VSR, corded drill with key-less chuck as a gift...that chuck was junk...I bought a used B&D cordless (no battery) with key-less chuck at a flea market for a buck...swapped the chuck...H-F drill still works great.

I had a 14.4V  General tool drill from HF. The shaft that drives the chuck sheared off. The construction of the tool made it impossible to access the damage to make any repairs. Didn't get to use the tool enough to wear the batteries down.

If batteries are the problem you can rebuild them in NICAD for about $18. Lithium I have not had one long enough to worry about. Note this rebuild was on a PC not HF. I used to get Craftsman only and then the PC and was like day and night on the smoothness of operation. Have not had a cordless HF but battery rebuild should be about the same.
