Cool Video. If you turn you can see something similar when you try to keep a patter in the piece and then it does not go deep enough to keep . Also might see something similar with a plane

I noticed that some of the pictures showed a lot of saw dust beside the logs -- did they actually destroy the log doing the video? There were beautiful logs, it would be a shame if they ended up as a pile of dust instead of furniture!
