Okay all the pieces have been colored. I put them back in the puzzle and wait for them to dry before I take them out and glue each piece to a board so I can spray them with lacquer.  Its good if makings these type of things  with this many pieces is to familiarize yourself on where the pieces go so when the glue is applied its good to have a good idea so you just don't stand there and wonder...Glue will only wait so long!!.IMG_9079.JPG.acdfc7adf931163b4f19075d05cb461f.JPG

After the pieces are dry I normally sand most of the stains and colors off to give it an older appearance. I never know what I think will look the best until . I removed most all the finishes off the other picture so maybe I will leave this one alone...

Three of the colors in the corner are the same dark stains I used on the side pieces...Like the almost black color is the same stain as the light cherry color. Came from the same bottle.. This is a good example  when someone ask how can they duplicate a certain shade of color. Wow, there are so many things one has to consider, the actual wood used and how it was prepared is the biggest chore and is the one who is asking the questions going to use the same exact same age wood and will the surface be prepared with the same equipment, as like the same grit sand paper. A stain that comes from the store can be made into many different shades of any one color...A good reason why I never comment when someone ask for help in finishing. Even the final coat of lacquer whether it is gloss or satin or flat will produce three different looking finishes. Two different pieces one with 2 coats of clear will not look the same as a piece with 10 coats of clear, no way....I do number all the pieces and as to where they go, like top left, top right, bottom left..Then the pieces in the middle I just write oh, ----.

Can't comment on brushed finishes, don't do it so can't comment.

Stupendous!

I could have painted two or three cars or roofed the house for the time I have spent on this project....

Already trying to think of the next thingy to work on. Oh, by the way I haven't caught or seen another squirrel since I caught the sixth one. Could this be the number in each territory???? One can hope can't he?

Oh, and I did have to give the girl a little glitter in her hair.

Oh yea, a little tip if someone decides to do something kinda like this... The smallest amount of glue as possible to glue the pieces down so they won't blow away when spraying them.

Those are some bold colors Patch, great looking project.
