June 6, 20178 yr I got a letter from Habitat for Humanity that Home Depot has partnered with them in the month of June and has pledged 2.8 million dollars of matching funds by Junes 30th for them to build new houses for Disabled Veterans. These will be single family homes with handicap ramps into the entry. If anyone is interested go to: habitat.org/homedepot Herb Stoops
June 6, 20178 yr I asked about this with our local Humanity group and this was the response i got: "I found out about this program with Home Depot back in 2015 when we were building in B***. We had two partner families that were trying to get a grant from Home Depot. The grant was very involved and very time consuming process (about 4 months). At the end of the process Home Depot informed us that they could only give the families a $2000 store credit if we could find a Non-Profit 501c3 organization that would do all the paperwork and file for the grant. They were offering larger grants to Veteran or Disabled Vets but at the time we did not have any families that qualified." Maybe it's different in your area...don't know and blinkered out the town as I don't want the local to get burned on this.
June 6, 20178 yr Author Thanks for the heads up, All I know is I got a letter from Habitat for Humanity, and sent a donation, as I do frequently, and the long letter convinced me that it was a worthy cause. I hope I didn't disillusion anyone. https://secure.habitat.org/site/Donation2;jsessionid=00000000.app30101b?idb=369802108&DONATION_LEVEL_ID_SELECTED=1&df_id=3653&mfc_pref=T&3653.donation=form1&NONCE_TOKEN=7A7EA68FC4B97DE3466210B9C04F5C7A&idb=0 Bummer, Herb Edited June 6, 20178 yr by Dadio
June 7, 20178 yr I'm not saying it's not legit. From my understanding each Habitat is local - to their own county. Local staff and volunteers and projects; so they may not (and probably aren't) all doing the same thing.
