With the thought of a recent pool tragedy mentioned in another post I am suggesting this link.

Before the digging starts be sure your electrician understands and agrees to these standards.

Pay the additional cost to have your electrical inspector regularly verify that these standards are being met during the installation process & any other requirements he may have. Local & State codes do vary.
