So, has anyone heard of this brand?

I just came across a name I've never heard: Hirschfields One Hour Finish and it appears to be an alkyd resin varnish. Since I'm often interested in such products I thought I'd ask. Anyone familiar with it? It's apparently marketed by BM.

Sorry, have not, but will keep my eyes open.

One interesting note is recommended application thicknesses.

Recommended wet film per coat: 3 mils.
Recommended dry film per coat: .9 mils.

For those not familiar with that terminology, a mil is 0.001"   I find many people put finish on way too thick.  My credo is "As little as possible, but as much as necessary to provide complete coverage."   Thick coats tend to run, puddle, catch nibs, dry slower, and show brush marks.  I'd rather put on 5 light coats than 3 heavy ones that have a lot of problems.   (That's why I have a lot of negative interference when i try to paint something with brush or roller)

Wet films are measured with, as you might guess, a "mil gauge."   Once you get a little experience with a product, you don't need to measure, you can judge by the look and application.195979d.jpgwet-film-gauge-img3.jpg

Description says not to use it on floors or tables. I question it's durability, then.
