April 1, 20179 yr We had our monthly woodworkers meeting at WoodCraft last night and parked inside by the front door was their new Harvey Dust Collector. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/harvey-g700-gyroair-dust-processor Also they had a new Harvey Lathe. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/harvey-t40-turbo-bench-lathe Herb Edited November 23, 20178 yr by Ron Dudelston tags added
April 1, 20179 yr Wow, that's a serious DC. Both out of my league for sure, but impressive pieces of machinery.
April 1, 20179 yr +3 with Dave and Lew Beautiful looking machinery but out of my league. Just wondering if that dust collector is quiet. Edited April 1, 20179 yr by It Was Al B

The decibel system represents the intensity of a sound. The decibel system has a logarithmic scale, which means that decibels increase exponentially. Every 10 decibel increase represents a tenfold increase in energy. So a sound at 30 decibels has 10 times the energy of a sound at 20 decibels and 100 times the energy of a sound at 10 decibels. Normal Speech Normal speech between two people typically has a range of 50 to 60 decibels. When two people are speaking in a public place with background noise, normal speech is louder, around five extra decibels. However, due to differing speech patterns among people, the range of normal speech could reach 65 decibels for some people who naturally talk louder than average. Conversely, some people who naturally speak softer may have an average level of 47 decibels during normal speech. Pretty quiet in terms of Dust collection. Mine is in a sound proof enclosure and runs 68 dba and is quite tolerable, two people can talk with no trouble over the sound of it running. Herb

When I first saw it ,I thought what the heck is that thing,so I asked and was told it was a DC. It looks like something out of a hospital operating room. Maybe it is wave of the future in DC and will become affordable over time . The DC systems we have now are noisy clumsy inefficient beasts at best. Herb
