Popular Post Cliff
Don't use it. Just don't. Don't take the chance. A couple years ago I though to use up some tubes I'd had laying around. The stuff went on OK filled the gaps and stopped water BUT NEVER CURED~!!!!! So it is nasty goo. Mineral spirits doesn't touch it, it laughs at alcohol and acetone. water based cleaners are useless. I have discovered how to clean the goo off. Lots of xylene ( as in you are going to use a whole pint on a small space of maybe 20 sq inches) then a strong solution of TXP and Dawn detergent followed by 409 all scrubbed with brushes and terry towels, then hosed off. BTDT, but never discovered how to clean up the mess. Tossed whatever I was trying to fix. John Grandpadave52
p_toad
Was this stuff in a metal or cardboard tube? The only problem i ever had with silicone rubber (the kind that smells like strong acetic acid) was that it hardened in the tubes which had never been opened. When i cut them open the silicone rubber had hardened into a giant blob of rubber. Fred W. Hargis Jr, Dadio and HARO50
Gene Howe
Never done it, but I've thought about cutting them into cookies for use around the shop. HARO50

I've also had the cardboard caulking tubes go hard, either opened or un-opened. Could have been a different manufacturer. John
Chips N Dust
I guess if you are not sure if it is still good, squirt some on a piece of scrap and see if it hardens/cures Edited March 31, 2017 by Chips N Dust HARO50, Gene Howe and LarryS
