harbor freight may owe you money

Featured Replies

Harbor Freight Tools, a national discount tool and equipment retailer, just settled a class action lawsuit which could get shoppers up to 30% back on all of their purchases.

The suit was brought by Cleveland based Dworken & Bernstein over misleading sale prices. Harbor Freight was accused of advertising merchandise at a “sale” or “compare at” price, when those goods were never sold at a higher price.

The settlement applies to goods purchased between April 8, 2011 and December 15, 2016.

If you have itemized receipts, you can submit a claim for a minimum of 20 percent of the "you saved" amount in cash, or 30 percent of that on a gift card.

If you don’t have itemized credit or debit card statements, you can get up to 10 percent cash back (or 12 percent in gift cards) on total purchases of "qualifying products."

If you don’t have receipts, you can fill out a form to make a sworn statement confirming your claim and get a $10 gift card.

To receive a payment, you must complete a Claim Form and mail it, or submit it online, no later than August 7, 2017.

IIRC, Sears was sued for this same type of stuff.  I wondered how long before HF would get the call... or their agent a certified letter...

Thanks Ron...need to dig out receipts and hope the print hasn't all faded away...

Will the lawyers get paid in gift cards too?  No..... they will take cash off the table. Cash that HF got or will get from you.

Weasels.

Your post brings to mind the auto industry and their way of trying to convince you of how much you will save if you buy now. They always show 10,000 or there abouts of the money saved if you come down and sign the dotted line today...

I look at it the other way. I worry about what I will end up paying. I could care less what it use to cost or how much it will cost next week....How much is fixin to empty out of my pockets if I buy right now, today...

Honestly I have never paid attention to HF and their way of making you think you are gonna get a deal....I think all the businesses trying to stay in business has many ways they pry on peoples minds....

Festool will not have that problem.

The only problem I have with HF is that they advertise an item and when you get there they don't have it or it is sold out and they offer a rain check, but never get it back in. They always seem to have a higher priced model on hand. Also they have numerous model numbers depending on what shipment it is, and so if you get up the the cash register and they charge you more, they compare model numbers and tell you this is not the one on sale and the one on sale is out of stock.

It is just a shell game and they are good at it.

If you are in their buyer club, I think all your transaction are recorded by them and a person might be able to geta copy of that.

All of the class action suits I have been involuntarily a part of were not too profitable. I think the largest on was settled for scores of millions $, and my portion was $.89.  but the attorney firms filed for millions $ for fees.
