March 6, 20179 yr Popular Post Got a gripe, a huge gripe, looking at woodworking files and rasps, and I noticed most of the specs listed for files, do not include the width of the file. Arrrrrrrrgh! I want a good file for getting in a slot 1/2" wide, I can find the files, but I have to go through many avenues just to find out what the heck the width of the files are! I finally found what I need, but jeez, what a chore!

March 6, 20179 yr Author I've still yet to learn that life lesson Dave, the last place is usually the place it will be. It amazes me the lack of information on vendor websites regarding their inventory. But ya, found what I needed, hey, if that's the only complaint I had for the weekend, then it was a great weekend right!
March 7, 20179 yr Author Hey Mike great to see ya! I needed files with no teeth on the sides, I found em. Thanks for visiting us Mike!

If you have an exact match in width, you don't want to abrade the walls, for sure. I've been cutting sticks to match and gluing on sand paper. Tedious! Edited March 7, 20179 yr by Gene Howe

Of course, sorry about that guys, here at http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.aspx?p=63451&cat=1,42524 It's not half inch, it's 3/8" which will do fine, at least I can get in a 1/2" slot and work it, and yes, the sides needed to be smooth, as these files provide. I purchased the "B" file. Japan Woodworker (Woodcraft) carries these exact files too, but they were out of this one, till April.
