March 3, 20179 yr Popular Post I woke up yesterday morning to tornado sounds in the mud room. This room has changed names and appearances over the time we have lived here I would say more times than I change clothes in a month. I see a list of things I think she on purpose put where I would have to see it while I was getting a cup of coffee. 1x12x6', pine, 2 big and stout L brackets. 5 lbs of 16 penny nails, 2 quarts of ? paint...then the note mentioned sewing room.. Got my coffee and headed toward the mud room. Nothing left in there but the enclosed ironing board and the washer and dryer. From the times past when she clears a room what ever was in that room happens to be in big heaps in very small pieces out in the yard. So as I leave her a note I headed for the shop.. The note said come look at what I am building you to go in the sewing, mud room. Anyway , this is her way of saying if you don't start that bookcase you promised many moons ago, I will do it my way..... Ash is so nice to work with. Its light color lets you make it in to any color without distorting the character of the wood.. I have always made the backs removable from my refinishing days. I have her smiling again, for now. And I do smell a pecan pie as I type this... Notice my assembly table. Especially in picture # 3. Actually in years past I always did my constructions in the middle of the floor.. March 4, 20179 yr You're doing a fine job of it Jess. Headed right for a thank you smooch on the cheek from her.
March 5, 20179 yr I thought for sure you were going to say she put one of those electric dog collars on you while you were asleep. This appears to be a workable alternative.

Was this post before or after @clhyer stopped to visit? or did he help get this built why he was there? Just wondering? BTW...nice build...I see locally some guy has quite a bit of solar kiln dried ash for sale...not too badly priced from appearance of wood...been thinking I might buy some up for???? March 5, 20179 yr Author Dave we had to drive about 35 miles to meet those guys and have supper with them... He wouldn't even detour that far from his intended route. He had already driven about 3000 miles and still had four or more states to go before they got home in Georgia.. I told him before he started on that trip if we ever went through Georgia we would personally come right to his house. So this is how nice we were to him. He mentioned next time he might come to my door also. Boy that 70 mile round trip that night about done me in.
March 5, 20179 yr Author Thank goodness clhyer, Cal has about the same leg pulling sense of humor as I have. I do like to add about 10 percent actual facts to make my stories sound weird..
