What's Your Definition of a Few?

The other day, a local school system asked me to build "a few" simple bookcases that will hold plastic bins.  I went over to the school today and the few simple bookcases miraculously transformed into 13 - 2 shelf units, 2 wheeled carts and two 6 shelf bookcases plus 3 units for teachers I haven't spoken so so I don't have a clue what they want.  .  Nice job but definitely not "a few".

3 to five is a few, 6 is a half dozen.

To me, 3 or 4 is a few

I would have thought a few would have been 3 or so. Whatever they call it, great job Ron! Great score!

Few is less than several and more than two. Sounds like they need to work on their math a bit.

Sounds like a nice job, regardless. Bid it at more than a few dollars.:D

The good news is that I have until the end of the summer.  Baltic birch plywood here I come.

Baltic birch can be a life saver . Especially since it will likely be finished with paint.

That will keep you busy for half a day!!

In my vocabulary there is a "couple-three", then a few, then "five or six".  I peg a few at 4,

Cal

the nice part is it's just as easy to do a dozen as it is to do 3. bid on a per piece basis and set up for mass -production and run with it

I think they are using the "new" math.  Time for a contract using the old stuff.

At least!  Maybe even a whole day.

I'll have a few donuts.

I'm with the rest, a few is three to five. That sound like a bunch to me.

Where are the donuts????

yup...

Teachers have asked me to build bookcases, shelves, etc. several times in the past and I always do it for the price of materials plus a modest charge for labor. Those folks don't have much money and often need help.

Fortunately, a local factory has sprung for a grant so I will be paid for this one!

few = less than several, but more than a couple; often times a subtracted amount from "too many" but also added to "more"...

From the sounds of it Ron you'll need a few pieces of BB ply to get started along with a few other items; probably can complete and deliver a few units at a time...

This project may also require you to work a few hours a day, a few days a week and may stop you from doing a few other things during the next few months...

Of course I could give you a few more suggestions, but I have a few other things to do in the next few minutes.

Hope this helps get you started...
