I have a kobalt 10" sliding miter saw. It won't make the entire cut, leaving a half inch portion uncut at the heel. I have moved the fence all the way forward. I can place a sacrificial fence, but would hope I don't have to. Thanks for your help.

Dinger, welcome to our community, crazy question here, are you pushing down on the saw as well? As you slide it forward for the cut, are you also applying downward pressure?

Adjust the depth stop to allow for deeper cuts...

consult your manual on how to do this...

It is probably one of these two adjustments-

One thing that would not allow the cut to complete is that the board is too wide for the saw to do the cut . My 12 inch will cut up to 7.5. If the board is wider I can flip it after the first cut to complete the cut.

I believe the OP's problem is at the fence, so the blade isn't going THROUGH the fence far enough. (Does that make sense?) Could something be stopping the forward movement of the motor assembly?

I don't own a Kobalt, so I'm guessing here. Mine is a King, which may not be available south of the border, and the only slide lock tightens to prevent ANY movement in the slide. In other words, no slide, PERIOD! I do remember having had the OP's problem once, when I first got the saw. In that instance, the electrical cord, being rather stiff from being coiled in the box, got between the slide and the slide support, preventing the saw from going all the way back. Once the kinks were worked out of the cord, this never happened again. A long shot, but hey... you never know.

pinched power cord???

  That saw needs room behind it so the slide bars don't hit the wall.  With the saw unplugged move the carriage back and forward and look for and obstruction.  The carriage should run the whole length of the rods. 

It would be nice if Dinger D would let us know if the problem has been resolved.

I am not Dinger, but I have a similar problem. Mine isn’t 1/2” , but my saw leaves about an 1/8 inch uncut. I have done the cleaning and checked cords, obstacles, sawdust buildup, and various  adjustable stops. I looked at the directions above to adjust the depth of the cut, but I couldn’t quite figure out enlist the second option was telling me to do once I removed the top cover. 
Any advice?

Welcome Deacon to The Patriot Woodworker. Glad you found us. Great group of knowledge people here. For clarification, is the ~1/8" left uncut toward the fence side or actually the bottom (depth) of the crosscut? Any pictures you could provide would be helpful. On a real long shot here, have you tried a different blade?
