How Fishing Rods Were Made in 1939

Featured Replies

I love old trades videos, just love them. This one is at the top of my list. A buddy of mine shared this one on my Facebook page.

Never heard of a wooden fishing rod.  Fun to see how it was made.  Thanks

You bet guys, I like these old ones, kind of reminds me of the educational and trades videos we watched on rainy days in elementary school. An old friend of our family who has long since passed, had a plethora of these poles hanging up in his rafters, along with some made of bamboo as well. We go fishing at the local pier where I grew up and he'd bring his big long bamboo pole, for the salt water fish.

A little before my time, but very informative. My first few rods were wood..... whatever species grew along the shore! :D The only work involved was cutting a small notch to tie the line in place.
