We should all have a workshop (and Frau) like this

I did...

My goodness, and he did it in a day!

From log to finish, all by hand. I couldn't do this with power tools. A real craftsman. Well worth the 21 minute watch.

w/ so few tools...

no plan...

no tape measure...

I have to believe that if you trace a family tree it would lead to Newman.

Hand lengths & a story pole equals a family heirloom.

Totally amazing. Thank you, Keith.

Unreal, that guy is amazing.

Those tools were so sharp he must have had a CNC diamond wheel sharpening machine in the barn.  Can't even imagine myself doing that.

Has a lot of chips to start the cook stove in the morning.

Reminds me of the 2 old Swedes we bought the farm from  when I was young, everything was made from wood with hand tools, all the out buildings had dirt floors and there was a whole series of different size draw knives and buck saws hanging in the shed. The only electricity was a light bulb in the house.

When I built mine I had it completed that morning and that afternoon I took a 27 hour nap and then finished next morning.

That is something.

According to the "translation" in the cc portion......it actually took 6 days to make.....not too sure about the German to English going on.......

6 days?   I THINK I could manage that time frame....that "T" shaped tool is the German version of the French baisage.....

baisage??? Tried googling it. Gave me a French to English translation. I'd post it but, this is a family site. You try it. See what comes up for you.

Mortising axe.    Aka:  Bisaigue

There are two sizes,  a short, hatchet like single cutter head thing, and a 4-6' long, double ended mortise and chisel combo.   It also has a short handle out one side...

That would be the one...

What language is that writing at the beginning? The narrator is speaking German, but with a slight accent.

That is usually what one says, the first time they try to use the Bisaigue.....:o

That and a few other choice epitaphs, I'd imagine.
