February 15, 20178 yr The mechanism is totally different in the two saws. I makes you wonder who is on the Gass payroll at ITC. Edited February 15, 20178 yr by It Was Al B to erase lines
February 15, 20178 yr If saw stop was really interested in safety over money, they'd license their technology for a nominal fee.

February 15, 20178 yr Stick, backspace took out the original post, but it does nothing to eliminate all that empty space. in between. You're talking to a real computer illiterate here. It stopped backspacing once the printed words had been erased Edited February 15, 20178 yr by It Was Al B

February 15, 20178 yr Stick , I got rid of all that space. The backspace went so fast that it deleted everything.I did repost there. At least I learned something new today. Edited February 15, 20178 yr by It Was Al B
February 15, 20178 yr Popular Post I was following this on another forum, and about every 10th post had some relevant opinion (the others were the usual SS arguing) but it seems that Gass has worded his patent so broadly that it will difficult for someone the have an alternate original option. It was mentioned that he included other tools as well (like a bandsaw) in the language and may have rights to anything developed for those as well. Now, this was all posted on the 'net in a forum like this....so I know it's true. Regardless, I doubt we've heard the last of this.
February 15, 20178 yr Author The Bosch system could be argued as an improvement on the Saw Stop system. I thought that was reason enough for a legal patent of their own. The blade not being ruined by the Bosch system seems like a HUGE improvement. https://definitions.uslegal.com/i/improvement-patent/ Improvement patent refers to a patent which has claims directed to an improvementon a preexisting invention. The owner of the improvement patent should have a license to practice the invention which is covered by the claims of the improvement patent, if the preexisting invention is patented by another. February 16, 20178 yr Doesn't sound like it's over yet..."it ain't over till ..." well, you know the rest... Maybe Trump will veto...maybe if we can get him to join the forum...?
February 16, 20178 yr Well! The U.S. chooses which laws to enforce. If you don't believe me, just look at all the junk that comes here from China! It seems as though it is only the big money businesses that can take on China or others who sell patented items without permission from the owners! Anybody agree or disagree with me on this?
February 16, 20178 yr sometimes, the cost of fighting fraud is too much, so you just put up with it. saw stop is amazing technology, but if he is so committed to safety, then just license the technology to anyone, get credit for it, and go on with life. i have a 14 year old DeWalt table saw. it wasn't cheap. i use the provided safety guards and do things safely. so far, no injuries. you will have to make a really good case to me to ditch my TS for another. i'd imagine that the cabinet type TS market isn't that big, but the portable TS market is bigger. and once you buy one for your shop, who is going to buy 2? he has legal rights that he is enforcing, but i still think he's a jerk.
