February 13, 20179 yr Much easier to work with for all the pieces are large enough to hold while grooming. I still have some of the ruff maple to work with even though it takes longer to grind in to shape than a soft wood. Its a stained glass pattern so it doesn't have the qualities of a good representation of its subject. I just noticed the horse shoe is warping out of shape and I have to force it back against the pieces. Might have to cut it in to where the wood burning lines are to relieve the pressure.. I think this will be a wildly colored piece when finished..I also noticed I shortened part of his right ear so I got to go and locate that part before it gets thrown out with the trash....Ha, thats the good reason for not sweeping up too often!!!!!!!!! and I'm one nail hole short.
February 13, 20179 yr Author Popular Post This is after I applied some color and when the water base color dries I will remove some in different places. The last picture is after I rubbed it down a little. And I will tone down the nostril. And I did cut the horse shoe in the wood burned area. Edited February 13, 20179 yr by Smallpatch

February 14, 20179 yr Another "WOW" project. Great job on the colors, too. I really like and appreciate your pictures and narratives. Keep them coming.
