I have given to the Disable American Veterans (DAV) for many years and will continue to do so.

same here...

I have too, it does concern me though about how much at the top of these charities draw for salaries, and these are usually honorary positions not counting their day jobs.

And the BBB is certainly no paragon of virtue.

It seems to be a law of the land that charities only need to donate a very small percentage to the cause to be held in high esteem as charities. For a long time I have been of the opinion that large charities are well to do people who benefit greatly form administering them.

That is why I am 100% behind John Morris and this group for the way the recent help to a veteran was conducted. That is in my mind the way to help out people, one on one. Burns me every time I think of the 911 fund, Katerina fund, and the Haiti fund.

Our wood working club is supporting the Rob Cosman's woodworking  program for veterans.

Herb, thanks for that sir.

We actually spoke to Rob just before the holidays and we were/are interested in his veterans program as well. I am working on some fundraising ideas now for it. Can you tell us how you and your club raise funds for Robs wonderful efforts?

We have money in our general fund, that is mostly from dues  that we use for expenses and contributions to further wood working.

yeah i guess you can buy anything here in "Corporate Land". The all Volunteer, 100% funds forwarded, no paid ceo or employees, organization The Patriot Initiative at http://www.thepatriotsinitiative.org/ has a very well known and utilized list of approved charities/organizations for Donors and Veterans. THey spend time auditing and observing each organization before including them, they also only re-grant the funds they raise and get granted to those on their list. they do assist individuals and survivors families. they pulled Wounded Warriors from th list and made the announcement i think like 3-4 years ago (dont know for sure) and just last year they spent 8 months with WW and still found them to be unsatisfactory, but headed in the right direction after they replaced upper management.

Summary- Dont donate/support to Wounded Warriors

I could probably use a little education as to which organizations best serve our veterans. I consistently get requests for donations from the DAV, VFW, Paralized  Veterans, and Wounded Warriors. and have been trying to help a little with each organization. Might it be a better idea to focus on one particular organization? I hate to think that most of my meager donations go to pay high salaried executives.

So I see you guys are discussing donating money to these charities. May I suggest to you to check out Quantum Leap farms and Warrior Mission at ease. They provide unconventional therapy to include Equine Therapy yoga craniosacral massage Accelerated Resolution Therapy just to name a few over 80% of donations go directly to providing support and paying for these programs for disabled oif oef veterans. I am local to them and volunteer time as a peer mentor after three Retreats with them. They provide all Transportation meals Hotel Etc. If you don't feel compelled to donate to this program I asked you to at least spread word of it.
