February 6, 20179 yr Popular Post So here is my humidor so far. This is just the outer cabinet so far. I decided to go ahead and prefinish it before assembly to give the BLO time to cure before sealing the exterior and interior with shellac. Once the shellac cures I'll assemble it and install the Spanish Cedar lining. Edited December 8, 20178 yr by Ron Dudelston tags added
February 7, 20179 yr Author The outer cabinet is cherry. I bought a bunch several years back from a tie yard. He had cut several trees that didn't make lumber grade do he sold his off cut stock.
February 7, 20179 yr Chris, I know next to nothing about a humidor, but I do know a great job when I see one. Looks terrific. You said the outer wood is Cherry, What kind of wood is on the inside and why not cherry?

Spanish cedar is more stable at high humidity and will help hold the humidity in the humidor and slowly release it. At least that's the way I understand it. It jade a strong aroma that will compliment the cigars I store in it. Native cedar has to strong of a cent and would give the cigars a foul taste. Most of the high end wooden boxes they ship cigars in will be lined with it or be solid Spanish cedar.
February 7, 20179 yr Beautiful piece Chris....the joinery is outstanding... can't wait to see the inside when finished.
February 8, 20179 yr Very nice! Love the dovetails and the Cherry is beautiful! Look forward to seeing it finished with the Spanish Cedar inside. Should be an awesome humidor.
