The Ukulele Cart is Finished

Uke Cart Closeup.JPG

If you have been following, I have been in the process of building a cart to house and transport 40 ukuleles for my daughter, the music teacher.  I built the cart from 3/4" baltic birch cabinet grade plywood and each ukulele has its own storage pod.  The neck rail is made from a 1 x 3 pine board and I cut the semi circle for the neck with an oscillating spindle sander.  It was a fun project but after about 15 hours of work I was ready to move on to a new project.

For the record, I didn't pick out the color.

This whole thing has been cool, from how the uke's came to your building the rack.

I like it.  Looks more Irish than Hawaiian.  When is the Luau?

that is pretty good...

Maybe they will be trying out for the Ukelele UK orchestra ?

That is really cool!

Very nice job, Ron. Never seen clear plastic ukes before. Hope you got a well deserved hug.

BTW, the paint job is awesome.:D

Nice job Ron, should serve them well.

Those ukes retail at $50 each believe it or not.  They were made so that they can be played in the water.  They really souind good.

thanks for the kind comments guys.  It was a no frills carts as you can tell by the 2x4s but total material cost was less than $125.  I really cut them a break on labor because it was a labor of love.

Nice job Ron! It appears everything went together as planned. I assume you still assembled it on site.

Great job, Love it!

In case none of you have ever heard of them, take a closer look at the

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

Tiny Tim even got a mention! Good ole Herbert Khaury. At least he gave us something to laugh about.

But seriously, seriously nice work, Ron!

My wife taught in the primary grades for many years.  Color, the brighter the better, was her decorating scheme. Makes for a cheerful and fun environment. Some kids need it. Not very cheerful at home for some.

Good on you Ron...really cool design...

No doubt your daughter was greatly pleased as should be the school administration too.

The effort of your daughter to apply and win these instruments will give current and future students opportunities that may develop future Music Teachers...

Win-win-win!! Well done to you all!!
