So I have this reclining loveseat in the man cave  basement and one of the cable releases broke; in a way I can't repair it. So I need a replacement and have had zero luck in finding any. Anyone know where I can get one? Little background, this is a double recliner and the release that broke was the right side (where I usually sit). My temporary solution was to move the left side over and that worked (not very well) but I'm wanting to get a new cable so both sides can work again. It's 32" long across the housing, and you can see the damaged end, the business end, and the overall cable in the photos. It does have some not-real-clear markings that look like 0 5(or 6) 9 8 gK23 T. Any ideas?

But seriously, all the recliners I have worked on had solid linkages. These cables are something new, at least to me!

I think you can find a replacement at a lwnmower repair shop or a go-cart shop. Take the old one with you for the lengths are different.

  I would try , drill a hole through the handle thread the cable through, go to ace hardware store and get a cable stop, it slips over the cable and has a set screw to lock it on to the cable. Or with the cable through the hole, tie a knot in the frayed cable and maybe find a washer with a hole just larger than the cable.  You can do away with the plastic handle and use a dowel with a hole in the middle.  Lots of ways to skin that cat.

I inventory these and can send you one, if you still need it.   The critical part is the distance on the bottom end between the clip and the hook.  Known as "long" and "short"  -- I'll check my distance and see if it matches yours.

 

Known as a "parachute pull cable release."   They break all the time, which is why I inventory them.   La-z-boy has a much different system, at least the ones I've worked on.
