December 23, 20169 yr Popular Post I took pictures of all sides of the tissue boxes so you can see the other sides too. It is kind of long ,hope you don't mind. Herb
December 23, 20169 yr Spectacular! I can see someone with artistic talent (certainly not me) using the burned shapes and embellishing those figures with leaves and surrounding items. The burned tracks seem like they would be the ideal starting place for tree paintings.
December 23, 20169 yr Can you explain what you used and how you did the burnings? Does it seem to work better on some woods than others, KD or air-dried, across or along the grain? I can see me in the basement now:

I can see me in the basement now: Kieth in the Christmas Items thread I show some of these in process and explain a little about them. Yes, some woods burn faster than others, and with more detail. A soda/water mix electrolyte is used on the surface of the wood to create conductivity. The more the surface is soaked the better the burning. I posted in the previous post some links to sights about the actual burning. It was too hard for me to take pictures of the process as I had to hold onto the probes with both hands, so I could only show the results. I would not recommend doing it in your basement either. The smoke from this process really stinks and it would smell up your house like burning old socks.Took my shop several days to air out. I am thinking this would best be an outside job. I had read that it travels along long grain best. I found that it really doesn't matter. I travels from one probe to the other.,and as soon as the 2 paths meet that is the end of the burn. Then if more is desired either one or both probes must be moved to create a new path. Herb

Like maybe combining the wood burning with the engraving .....HMMMMM
