December 22, 20169 yr Popular Post I finally settled on what I was going to make the relatives for Christmas, and at the same time try out a new way of decorating the pieces. And since I am not very artistic I had to come up with something that did the job for me. Here is he build of some tissue boxes. ,from ripping the material to cutting out the hole. I will post a separate thrtead on the final results in 2 posts phase I and phase II as Phase II is still in process. Herb
December 22, 20169 yr Ooops...saw the 2nd post first...always enjoy your PIP's since I seem to pick up a tip or two with each... Cool bandsaw re-saw fence; like the palm router support too.. Thanks Herb...you never seem to run out of creative, useful and unique projects for gifts.
December 23, 20169 yr Thanks for the PIP. You must have a BS dead nuts on to use the flat fence, I do not seem to be able to do that or too lazy to change blade. Which I did put in a new blade yesterday and is a little grabbie but cuts like butta' .

Which I did put in a new blade yesterday and is a little grabbie but cuts like butta' . Gerald, try a wee bit more tension, and slow down the feed rate a tad. I use this set up to resaw because I never got the hang of a single point contact like a lot of fellows use. Every tme I change the blade I set the drift of the blade. Contrary to what a lot of experts say ,every band saw I have owned has blade drift. I take a straight 1X4X 3' or so long and draw a straight line down the middle parallel to the edge then put a strip of tape front and back on the table, then carefully feed it free hand cutting about half way from the end. Then I stop the saw, and mark on the tape the edge of the 1X4. That shows the drift. Then align the fence to the mark and anywhere the fence is moved it allows for the drift. Once that is done I use the wooden jig I made to hold the wood tight against the fence at the point of cut this gives me the same thickness of cut. Also I buy my blades online at Amazon, they are carbide impregnated blades, they cut a little slower than wood slicers, but last a lot longer. they are made in America at this link: http://www.supercutbandsaw.com/gold.html https://www.amazon.com/SuperCut-B70-5H12T3-Resaw-Bandsaw-Blades/dp/B001J8R0PK You can get any length you want even custom made lengths.
