December 14, 20169 yr Too busy here to spend any time in the shop. Subbed today in Electronics. I hope things slow down some after the holidays. A potpourri (literally) of turning stuff for this week's entry. Patriot member "Dan" turned some really neat Potpourri Bowls Check out his post here- http://thepatriotwoodworker.com/topic/18584-potpourri-bowls/#comment-87450. He explains where to get all of the "hardware" needed to make these cool little items! I stumbled across this neat diagram for cutting logs in preparation for making bowls. Pretty interesting- Speaking of bowls, I'm sure there are some "knitters" among the wives/girlfriends of our members. The Woodworker's Journal posted this article/video by Mr. Ernie Conover on making a yarn bowl. The entire article and plans are located at- http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/turned-knitting-bowl-stand-plan/ Several of our turning members make spinning tops. Mr. David Reed Smith published a couple of articles on that subject. Firsts- a "Whistling Top" The article is here- http://www.davidreedsmith.com/Articles/WhistlingTop/WhistlingTop.html The second article is on making a hand held launcher for a larger top- The instructions are here- http://www.davidreedsmith.com/Articles/PVCLauncher/PVCLauncher.html Safe Turning
