December 5, 20169 yr Good Evening Friends, A fellow brought me two 8/4 rough sawn timber with each being 8" wide by 12' long. He asked me if I could make a cross for the church and I agreed to make it for him. He then stated the the front had to be flush and the measurements had to be equal at the top of the cross where they joined. He then asked me what size they would be, I then explained to him the proper sizes of the cross. Do any of you know the proper size of the components?
December 5, 20169 yr A lap joint would get you flush at the cross. I would think that the horizontal length would be 2/3 of the height. The lap joint would be 1/3 from the top.
