December 1, 20169 yr Good Evening Fellows, Today I experimented with epoxy finish on a table top. First I had a square table top that was in the shop for a while, I also had some thin strips of wood with Formica glued to the face. I made an "L" shape out of them and screwed the bottom to the bottom of the table allowing about 1/8" clearance around the table top. Then mixed the Epoxy up and applied it to the top. Since glue and Epoxy will not stick to the finished side of the Formica I am hoping the finish will come out OK. How do you think it will turn out? Edited December 1, 20169 yr by Ralph Allen Jones
December 1, 20169 yr I hope it works OK, Ralph. I wonder if something like non-stick food spray could have been used on the formica as insurance.

December 2, 20169 yr Author Good Evening all, It worked like a charm and I didn't have to use any lubricant for the Formica let loose as I suspected it to. I have never had a problem removing glue so I just thought I would try it on Epoxy. Sorry though I don't have a picture for show and tell. Try it by mixing a little Epoxy up and put it on a piece of Formica and let it dry over night and it will pop right off.
