I worked for the state highway department doing interstate construction my first two summers out of high school. I always said that bridges were always built by hand. They were the first things started on the project and the last finished. Pilings, iron work, carpentry forms, concrete pours and finishing and more. They just (about) finished a six-year project here to complete a 2,252 feet long and 239' high bridge about 2 miles away on I-71. Longest and highest in the state. Report
