November 23, 20169 yr Popular Post My wife is a quilter, crocheter, cross stitcher, etc. She wanted to hang her biggest , most complicated quilt on the wall. It is huge and weight was an issue. She showed me some available wall clamps, she didn't want to damage the quilt. I didn't like what I saw, but did like one concept. It involved a marble clamp that hung on the wall. when you shoved the quilt in, it pushed the marble in a hole. When you pulled down, the marble would come down and clamp the quilt. This is what I made. I made 6, This also the quilt. She didn't like the original corner details on the quilt so I made a design that she liked and that is it on each corner
November 23, 20169 yr Very ingenious Ron, love it. It's amazing how the simplest idea can hold something like this against a wall! Thanks for sharing and giving us some inspiration Ron.
November 23, 20169 yr That is a great idea ,Ron, how does it attach to the wall? Those look like kind of big marbles . good going, Herb

November 23, 20169 yr Author I made 6 of them 2"x 6" with large marbles. They are attached to a board the same width as the quilt and the board is screwed to the wall. Was difficult to hang as she wanted it. Ceiling is bout 18'
November 23, 20169 yr That's a cool idea, Ron! Your wife's work is extraordinary!! Quilting seems to be a dying art. My Mom (age 91) no longer does this but she (and her family) made lots of quilts over the years. Mom has a quilt from her sister's mother . Her sister passed away about 10 years ago and was in her mid 90's. The quilt was made before her sister was born. I made a quilt display holder from plans in Woodsmith magazine many years ago.
November 24, 20169 yr Author I made her a couple of quilt racks. One was a redesign of a piece of junk she bought, an eight footer. I designed and built a smaller baby quilt. I'll have to post some pictues.
