November 23, 20169 yr It is one of the most useful techniques for finishing. It also will reveal any glue residue that may have been overlooked. It was interesting to see he mentioned that using MS might be a problem with water borne finishes. I've not had that happen will be more careful in the future.
November 23, 20169 yr Maple is the only wood that I use that blotches. I just expect it. So, I use this every time. It's inexpensive and it works.
November 23, 20169 yr Great article.... I always use a dye first then seal with #1 lbs cut of shellac then stain. Works on every wood including Maple.
