November 12, 20169 yr Good Morning Friends, I have seen tips for removing glue from pipe and bar clamps, but are there any other regular maintenance that should be used on them?
November 12, 20169 yr If pipe clamps start slipping when tightening them, you can flip the locking rings to get "fresh/crisp" edges that dig into the pipes.
November 12, 20169 yr Keep clean and wax often. I don't like to use anything with oils as it transfers to hands and then to the wood...yuch... Mine did double duty for a while...inside for finer builds and outside for DIY projects and other lumber construction. I then decided to invest in "construction only" clamps...Much easier to maintain differently.

November 13, 20169 yr I've used clear candle or food canning wax blocks to lubricate "acme threads" on pipe and hand screw bar clamps; helps some for rust prevention too.
November 13, 20169 yr Author Great answers all and you are each and everyone correct in the storage and maintenance of your clamps.
November 13, 20169 yr Late to the show but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Use saran over clamps that are placed on the underside of the work......also some make sleeves of PVC pipe to go over the bar.
