November 10, 20169 yr Popular Post Tomorrow, at the "11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month" a moment of silence will occur. Then it was the end of WW1, and the "Guns of August" finally went silent. Then it was known as Armistice Day. Today it is known as Veterans' Day. maybe a moment of reflection, upon all who gave all, and raise a glass to those that came back home. "Hand Salute"....."TWO!" "Present.....ARMS!" Order....Arms Maybe someday.....ALL of the guns will go silent.....
November 10, 20169 yr Popular Post Likewise to our Canadian Veterans! Their day is the same day as ours to recognize our veterans.
November 10, 20169 yr Popular Post I told the GC at the National Cemetery where we are working on an expansion, that even with the forecast of good weather, we are NOT working there on Veterans/Armistice Day. It just does not seem right to do so.
November 10, 20169 yr Popular Post In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. and a song

I was wondering if it might have been The Dropkick Murphy’s song?
