October 17, 20169 yr Hello Friends, I am going to try to upload a picture of a table we refinished. With 5 coats of finish to suite the client. Here goes nothing. Edited October 17, 20169 yr by Ralph Allen Jones Wrong Picture
October 17, 20169 yr Looks like you got the picture thing and the finishing thing down pat, Ralph! Gorgeous piece.
October 17, 20169 yr Nice looking table Ralph. Coloring and finish look great. Also looks like it weighs in at 10 or 20 pounds...
October 17, 20169 yr What a beautiful job on the table Ralph, and I am glad to see you get the hang of the pics! Ok, now the million dollar question, how'd ya refinish it? What did you use? Way to go Ralph!
October 18, 20169 yr Author Thanks Guys, I'm glad you liked it and John I stripped it by first cleaning it up with Murphy's soap suds and then stripped it with denatured alcohol, down to the bare wood and found the ebony on the lower portion as well as Walnut bural on the corners. Then I hand rubbed the stain in blending as I went and applied three coats over a 36 hour time. Then I started applying hand rubbed Minwax Tung Oil with five coats over a 64 hour period sanding between each coat to 400 grit. A lot of work but well worth it. I only charged the client $800. 00 for the job and she was very pleased.
