October 16, 20169 yr comment_79368 This will almost certainly mean many job losses here. Lennox employs about 650 people in MA . I believe the state, nicknamed "Taxachusetts" , will have to provide many tax concessions to keep them here. I believe Irwin tools are already being manufactured in China. A company not lnvolved in the above mentioned, is Starrett, another MA based tool manufacturer that's been mentioned in the past concerning possible sales or closure. Report
October 16, 20169 yr comment_79388 Yes the word FOREVER is working hard to put Sears in to the grave. For years they stressed their tools was warrantied forever. With each new year gaining more Sears tool owners. Now I suspect there are many more tools replaced than being sold. I remember when Knapp Shoes quit selling their shoes to Sears because Sears would give the customer a new pair even if the shoes were worn out with holes in the soles. Then in return would make Knapp replace them. The Knapp rep told me Sears was pushing all the companies like that making it impossible to run a profitable business dealing with Sears. Report
October 17, 20169 yr comment_79479 Edward Lampert, the guy running Sears (formally K mart until they assumed the Sears name) is an idiot and has done all he possibly could to destroy both companies. Selling the Craftsman brand has long been rumored in the business press as a way for them to raise some money. I still see the C'man hand tools (mechanic's tools) as some of the better values in the market, though I admittingly don't buy many any more. Even so, I would hate to see that brand go the way Delta has went. Some of the other brands mentioned have been in the toilet for some time...though I've always had a high opinion of Lenox stuff.
