DC experiment at the slot mortiser/miller

Featured Replies

This was a problem I have been struggling with.  My efforts on the operator side of the bog faceplate haven't been great.  I get most of  the chips but not enough.

This is the RL 160 pulling through 15  feet of nordfab and 10"  4"of flex hose with a Rigid shop vac nozzle on the end as an experiment for how to set up DC at the slot mortiser.  I think it's pretty good. I'll fab up a sheet steel chute to fit more closely and maybe even mount it with screws and foam tape to the router base to seal better.

I'd call that a success Cliff, looks like you got about 97 percent of the debris. Nice job.

Looks like it is dong a good job Cliff. I'm sure when you seal it off it will be awesome.

I would call that a success story.  You got the majority.  Can't ever get it all.

Does the suction of the motor fan pick up any of the debris?

That's something I've always wondered about when it comes to routers mounted  in tables and such, but I rather suspect that they are built to take it.  Otherwise it's be a fail point people would keep running  into.  That particular debris is being sucked into a little nozzle right and above behind the tool

Looks pretty good. I would have to agree with Dan, you can never get it all.
