Patriot Picking - Linseed cans and plane

Featured Replies

I got a chance to do a little picking this week early one morning. I have a collection of Linseed Oil cans and other finishing related cans. I was excited to run across these two to add to the collection.

The Linseed can is 3/4 full and the Chief can is about 1/2 full. I really love the color and graphics o the Chief Paint and Varnish thinner can.

Both cans are pre '60's. I'll have to do a little more research on them.

I also got this Stanley No 5.

Quite a bit of rust on the blade and some of the japanning is missing. The knob and Tote are in very good condition.

This No 5 is from after 1936. They went to the kidney shaped hole in 1936. This is one I'll refurbish.

The good thing is it doesn't have any cracks or chips in it and the bottom is good. Like I really needed another project right now.

Just couldn't pass it up, it was free so I'll do what I can with it.

I just love picking!!

Put it away some where for now...out of sight out of mind...pressure's off for now.;)

It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it; I mean what could you do, you couldn't just leave it there!:P

Comforts all ill will...brings back good memories.

The BOL cans are totally cool. Remove the Indian Chief and replace with Deere's old leaping deer brand, and color scheme would be John Deere labeling from the 50's-70's.

I remember the Archer brand...I think they must have made for Standard Oil Company too..,remove the archer and replace labeling with old Standard Oil logo...

That's interesting about the paint schemes. I've got to look that up. Cool!!
