October 5, 20169 yr Author I have tried carving and mine were crude compared to those. Due to a condition in my hands, I can no longer try. I wish I had taken up this art when I was young. I also wish I had hair, a good memory and.............................. there was something else

October 5, 20169 yr Gee, I don't know. Doing the same thing over and over would get boring wouldn't it?
October 5, 20169 yr Ron my favorite place to go and drool over wood carving is pinterest.com and type in wood carving. The whole world is starting to show up with their abilities and like already said where do they get the creativity from.... In my way of thinking it does not seem to be any over and over like suggested in carving . Even though I am doing almost the same thing on the last four things I made, it just don't seem to be any repetition. I think when a person sees something another person builds, their brain steps up and says, hey I think I can do a better job than that. I do that even though I start out copying something I actually end up with something completely different sometimes. Now when a person wants to build say a quilt rack he can see so many different kinds and shapes in just a instant where twenty years ago one would have to go to the library and spend all week seeing just a small amount of the same thing..then by the time he does that, he is tired and gives up before he even starts......So the reduction in time has caused our minds to respond likewise...... But we still have guys who use that excuse, Oh I'm too old to do what you are doing. Or I don't have enough patience to do that. Lazy, Lazy
October 5, 20169 yr That is a real talent. I could not even draw something like that. There is a multitude of talented people that are unrecognized. It is Pinterest, Facebook and others that are an outlet for some of that work. Not just carving but sewing , woodworking, embroidery etc are seen there. Our internet world has given all of us the opportunity for others to view our work. I like that.
