Got some art-work hung today in the new house.

Flag made from a single 2x4, including the frame.

State map shows all the major highways in the state.  Laser-cut 1/4" plywood.  My wife bought this for me for Christmas about 3 years ago.  I did the shadow-box framing.   It's about 36" high and wide.

I got this original copy of the DOI from a guy on the street, he only wanted $5 for it.   :-)    I did the matting and framing

Man Keith you got a real deal on that one! ;) Did he have any Rolex's or other items tucked inside his coat? :P

Kudos on the framing...All look great and all the subject matter depicted is awesome...even the map of Ohio!  Look very nice in the new house.

Did you make the Flag? If so, did you hand cut all the stars or did you have some type of jig and a "router" or...??? Very cool!

Yes, I made the flag.  I ripped the 2x4 into about 1/4"+ thick strips and glued it back up.  The stars are painted on using a stencil I made. I just used some craft paints, then applied some brown glaze to highlight

I like it...very nicely done...would sell like "hotcakes" at the upcoming Parke County IN Covered Bridge Festival.

Hah!

We went to an "Apple Fest" at the nearest town to our new place a couple of weekends ago.  Well, there were two places selling apples, a couple of Boy Scout and Amish booths selling apply pie or dumplings, a bunch of typical "fair food" and about 300 crafters' booths.  A forum I was on many years ago used to call that "pukey ducks."   I have come to call this "cr@p from scr@p"  20-some years ago, I spent a week making nice little Shaker Oval boxes to sell at a show sponsored by my kid's marching band.   I didn't even sell enough to pay my booth charge.  No one wanted  to spend $15 for an hour of my time + materials, but they did buy up the stuff that sits on a shelf collecting dust.  And it's tough to compete with someone who doesn't really value their time, "as long as they get a little bit to cover some of their materials and maybe buy a new tool some day."

Different clientele at this one...one of the largest if not the largest festival in the Midwest...tour buses by the dozens from all over roll in for 10 days...Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, of course Indy, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Louisville, St. Louis & so on...yeah there's the import crud, pallet hack and other junk, but some really nice items too. In the 80's & 90's hard pressed to find anything that wasn't hand crafted...it changed in the late 90's until the bust '07-'10...gotten much better since.

In it's heyday, somewhere between 1 & 2 million people hit this festival annually. The crowds are still estimated around 1M each year. I've got a neighbor and a former co-worker who both do VERY WELL each year. I go for the food, last great Lemon Shake-Up for the year and tool picking mainly, that and carry stuff for my wife, daughter and grand-daughters...some stuff is priced way beyond market value like anywhere, but good bargains can be had if you get off the beaten paths.

Take a look...may want to bring your wife over for a day...don't plan to get a room close (usually Indy area is the closest) or to find a campground spot anywhere near.

That sounds very nice.  Can't do this year, but will put on the to-do list.    May even swing by our alma mater (Univ. of Illinois).   Haven't been back in over 40 years.  We used to camp once in a while at Brown County State Park.

Seems I'm not the only one.   I remember a few years ago a guy from England put it well, "These people produce what becomes a surplus of goods to be liquidated at any price."
