PIP - Router Table Storage

Featured Replies

As I have mentioned, I recently got a new router lift complete with table stand and fence. As with most of us, storage space is premium so I wanted to build storage under the table, between the legs. So, I took two plans that I like and have combined them to get what I want and to fit in the space that I have. It is a work in progress but here is my progress so far:

Router Table Assembled, Router Mounted in Lift and whole unit set on a mobile base (note: I lowered the front lower brace to accommodate the storage cabinet)

Base made to for the cabinet to set on (brings cabinet bottom up to top of front brace)

Some of the parts cut out - ready to dados and rabberts

Dry Fit Cabinet - I wanted to get exact dimensions for the upper drawers that will set on each side of the lift.

Thank you for looking.

Nicely Done!

How will you handle dust/chip collection?

Thanks!

The fence has a 2 or 2 1/2" port in it. So far, I have just hooked up my shop vac which worked pretty good, most went into the vac. Once I get the rest of it completed and use it for a bit, I will see what the best method for getting the stuff that goes under the table will be. Probably will have to trail and error that somewhat.

Nicely done, Kelly.

Great use of available space.  Can never have too much storage.

Looks good Kelly...Envy your upgrade on the table & lift. Looking forward to seeing this project through. Foot/ankle holding up so far?

Dave:

Some days are better than others with the ankle - if I get the sharp pains shooting from it, I sit down for a bit, put some ice on it and go back at it. I am trying not to let it slow me down too much, I have a lot I want to get done before I get laid up from surgery

Here is the latest on the router table storage cabinet:

Ready for drawers (the right side upper are cut out and joinery complete) upper left side to construct as well as the lower right side. On the lower left side, I will have 1 adjustable shelf with a door.

Thank you for looking,

Nice! Do you find it a little crowded in the router compartment if you have to reach for some reason?

Looks good.

No, I think I will be fine. Worst Case - take the lift and router out of the table. I am going to like having the tools for the lift and the router wrenches right there, easy to get out of one of the top drawers.
