Wife got a text message yesterday from Master Card to tear up our cards. Two new cards are being

sent. We got two charges 86.?? and 96.?? on our card made over seas somewhere. We do have

the new design card with the chips so I wonder how the charges went through???

Maybe we have a woodworking credit card employee out there to give us the lay down or is it the low down?

Another time they called as we were checking out at Lowes. The clerk had just run our card through and

was waiting for the receipt when the clerk's phone rang, she handed the phone to my wife and ask if

we were making lots of purchases there in Abilene. We were remolding the bathroom and yes we had

used the card at a few places that day. They said just to be safe their machines are set for unusual signs

which could be fraud.

Also we got a call about ten years ago and they ask if we were in Houston using our card.  No..... Okay tear up the cards and we are sending new ones. We will take care of everything on this end. This time the cards were the old style.

I left the SAFTY  there so everyone might read this and do keep a close eyeball on your cards transactions even if your cards are much better than ours????? Mine is better than yours. My drill is better, my wife cooks better than yours....

I remember Cliff mention he had trouble with Tauton Press. Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye on ours.

We have never lost a penny using credit cards but a person should keep a close eye on all their transactions to be sure nothing is charged to the cards that's not supposed to be.

My CCs are better than yours Jesse. They're edged with pinking shears for glue spreaders.

My motel key cards are better, too.

When I ordered my router table package, I got a phone call from a fraud company, thought it was a scam so I called my bank and it was a legitimate call.  Since JessEm is in Canada, the out of country alert was tripped and they stopped the transaction. Happy to know they are looking out for me. (but I still keep a REALLY close eye on statements, etc.)

For sure you have to watch what's going on, and I've had a few fraud alerts and card replacements. But having them makes life a lot more convenient in so many ways I'll live with the risk, and continue to be vigilant. We've never had many (for the past many years it had been only 3) to make the watching a little easier.

As far as the chip cards,  around here most of the stores that have the chip readers installed have tape over them as they are not activated yet.   Also if you order over the phone or on internet the chip means nothing.   Roly

I too like the convenience of using plastic and rarely carry much cash. I remember once at the Columbus wood show receiving a phone call while setting at a seminar. This was after the purchase of a few smalls from several vendors and a hand plane from one of those tool suppliers north of the border. The call was to advise me that several purchases were made and did I make them. It was comforting to know my bank had my back (at least in this situation).

I agree Rick.  It is comforting getting a call like that.  Make me feel like they are at least trying to quash the fraud.

Don't give me that Dave. If you were good credit wise to get one card then you got another or two. But at your age someone needs to remind you where they are..... and at the same tell you which way to go to get to your home........................................................................................................... Not being smart at all Dave, I'm just repeating words that are told to me all the time....
