Folks, I am on a quest to find any images of the man, Thomas Chippendale. There is a caveat, they must be open source, without copyright or at least released into the public domain by the originator. So that means we'd have more luck with images from public museums, library archives, .gov sites etc.

I am creating a "seed" wiki page about him at http://thepatriotwoodwiki.org/Thomas+Chippendale and I need to start by filling in the area where his image should be.

This is the only image I have found of the man, in his younger years, did he not want to be painted in his older years?

Does anyone here know of a location I could procure any additional images of him, I could use the above image, it appears to be in the public domain but I'll have to contact the website first, it seems to be pretty popularly used. But I am also looking for an image with larger dimensions, this one appears to be only available at 200 x 280 px.

I did a Google search using "Thomas Chippendale Portrait" among other search terms and came up still with only this one. There will be a thousand other images that pop up with those search terms, but they are not of "Thomas Chippendale" they are of other craftsmen of the time.

So, if you'd like to put your research hat on and help me find some additional images, any help is greatly appreciated!

i'm not in this for fame or fortune.

no one, outside a very small group of friends, knows that i create things in my shop.  and i've likely given away more than i've sold/gotten reimbursed for over time.  so i'm not even in sniffing range of being a commercial success.

but i'm not doing this to make money.  i do it for me.  for my wife and our house.  for others that would like something handcrafted and unique.  some send me money to cover expenses, others cannot.  i thank every person that sends me any payment.

now, if you are a stranger, and you contact me, i'll talk, but i'll also charge my going rate for an item.  too much?  have a nice trip to Ikea, they have lovely particle board in cardboard boxes.

That's a good thing.
