August 23, 20169 yr It's like not having to use templates. At first I sneered at this but ya know - - - maybe.
August 23, 20169 yr Cliff this is incredible, at first I thought this was a gimmick, but after seeing their website at https://shapertools.com/ I was completely blown away even further. This is pretty ground breaking in the router world.
August 23, 20169 yr Author $1499 One thousand four hundred and ninety nine dollars And I thought Festertool's router was over priced. And they say they will want $2000.00 later on Oh yah Shipping is $99.00 REALLY? a hundred bucks to ship a 14 pound box? I don't know. They only claim accuracy of 1/100 if an inch, that's almost an eight of an inch I can make a template way tighter than that. And they don't specify if that is a + /- or a total accuracy. They also don't say much about spindle speed or horsepower

I've always been terrible at math. That's 0.010" (ten thousandths of an inch). My bad~!! Edited August 23, 20169 yr by Cliff

August 23, 20169 yr Festool is going to have seriously raise it's prices if it wants to stay competitive... Mafell P1 cc Jigsaw in T-MAX Systainer | ToolNut.com!
August 24, 20169 yr If it works as advertised it is worth the money in a for profit shop. Map out the template and done. No need to make the template. Dan
August 24, 20169 yr I wonder how well it will navigate wild grain etc. I also wonder how much that special tape costs per roll. I know when I've tried free hand routing that it doesn't matter how straight a line I draw and try to follow once the grain changes its a fight to keep it on track. Even with the pop up feature i can see it being dicey. I also noticed most of the projects were in plywood so maybe with thin layers of veneer you don't have as much of a fight with the grain. I wonder if they will be making the rounds with The Wood Working Show this season?
