August 8, 20169 yr But I'm back in the shop after a very very long hiatus. I've done a little thing here and there, tried to clean up some but mostly I just haven't been able to get in the shop for the last few months. But today I started a project . The lumber is rare Austrian Pine. Probably from the Russian Urals. It was shipping crate. I've used it for painting shingles and it's been outside and rained on and is rough sawn lumber but it'll do great for a cellar wine rack Drilling partial holes. Note the precision with which I am locating the holes The little centerline for the holes just happens to line up nicely with the scrap block I clamped on the drill table. Don't ya just love it when things like that just fall in your lap? Need three of these then three with smaller partial holes for the necks
August 8, 20169 yr Glad to see you are up and about, Cliff. The rack looks like it will serve the purpose quite nicely. And, is that a Walker Turner drill press? Nice piece of machinery, that.
August 8, 20169 yr Good to see you back in the shop, Cliff. I see you have a bottle of pain killer on the work bench

August 9, 20169 yr Author There it is. Done and in place. That's as finished as it's going to get. Built from scrap. Nailholes galore, splits, rough lumber, measurements? We don't need no stinkin' measurements, splattered paint. I love it. I gotta say I was enormously happy cobbling that together. It's been a while since I could play in the shop like that. August 10, 20169 yr As before, it serves it's purpose well. I can relate to the feelings about getting back to it. There is one problem with the rack. It has no accommodation for boxed wines.
