July 20, 20169 yr John has rocker repair going on. Years ago my wife bought a really old rocker and said you can fix it can't you? My reply was WHY? Anyway I did it. The rockers were worn down as though it had rocked kids for a hundred years and maybe it did. I had to rebuild all joints and I cut the rockers down to an even thickness. Then laminated some oak in layers to bring them back
July 20, 20169 yr That is really a neat piece you got there Ron. That was a masterful repair on the rockers! Just curious, how'd you cut them down to an even thickness?
July 20, 20169 yr Great job of restoration, Ron. It's good for another hundred years of pleasant rocking.
July 20, 20169 yr Author I marked a Parallel line with the inside of the rocker, cut with bandsaw and sanded to the line.
July 20, 20169 yr That's relaxing just looking at it- imagine how relaxing it would be sitting in it! Great restore!
July 20, 20169 yr Author It actually don't sit or rock very good for a big person, I wonder if it was made for a small lady, like a nursing rocker for mother and infant.
