June 22, 201610 yr Popular Post FINALLY, pix of my Morris chair. It's all white oak and heavier than.....well, it's pretty heavy. It's 34" wide, 36 " deep and 40" high. The back's recline is adjustable to 3 positions by means of pegs in the back end of the arms that limit the back's movement. Finish is 50/50 Watco and Poly (two coats) and two coats of straight Poly. Each coat was steel wooled with Liberon's finest. Finally a couple coats of J&J makes it nice and slick. There's another to be built and two ottomans, too. Hope to have them all done and upholstered by Sept.
June 22, 201610 yr Wow and wow and wow!!!! So that is the famous chair in progress Gene! Awesome my friend, absolutely awesome! Gene, what color and type of upholstery?
June 22, 201610 yr Author Thanks for the kind words, guys. The DIL has chosen a faux leather in a medium tan. My preference is a deep red. But its not my choice.
June 22, 201610 yr I'm with you Gene, deep red would be stunning. But hey, she's the boss on this one!
June 24, 201610 yr Beautiful job. We stayed in a cabin a few times that had 2 matching chairs like that. I think that even the cushions were original. Only other ones I've seen. Yours looks better than original
July 2, 201610 yr Gene, that is so awesome! Excellent craftsmanship. I have wanted to build one for a long time and it is still on my list. Maybe one day I will get to it. Look forward to seeing them complete.
September 27, 20169 yr Author Upholstery is done. A beautiful job. Picked the chair and ottoman up and left them covered in the pickup. We'll be delivering them Friday. Pics the following week.
September 27, 20169 yr I see, just a teaser for now. Pictures, we want pictures! Why do we have to wait?
