June 10, 20169 yr I wrote about the big hail storm we had. Some as big as baseballs and damage was extensive to everything. I didn't know how bad it really was till today. I was mowing the grass and found out that hail had destroyed 3 of my wind mills. It also damaged my birdhouses. I just finished one the day before the storm. I was going to give it to a neighbors. Today I saw a neighbor hood hit much harder than we were. Smashed double pane windows, ripped apart screens, siding that looked like it had been blasted and the roofs in a huge area all have to be replaced. Mine too.
June 11, 20169 yr Wow that is so sad Ron. I am so sorry your fine pieces got damaged and destroyed. I hope you and your family are okay. Maybe you can repair some and remake the others.
June 11, 20169 yr Author We did OK. I was watching out the sliding door taking pictures and could hear hail stones hit the big windows. I honestly don't know how they held up. If one broke, the huge down pour of rain would have flooded the house. The ping pong size kept on for 40 minutes and changed directions. Most of the house needs painted, The roof is shot. We went thru areas today less than half a mile away that had windows smashed, shutters shattered and damage that was unreal. My birdhouses got damaged too, I can repair them, however anything in the yard, like solar lights...............history. I did see one hail ball as large as a grapefruit. Thank God it was just one. Those other places we saw got some really big ones.
June 12, 20169 yr Dang! Sorry to hear you got hit like that, hope you will be able to get everything taken care of without hassle. We had a storm like that move through Billings about 3 weeks ago. We were very lucky the south end of the storm that went over our place did not carry the hail. The north end of the storm carried the hail like you guys got and it was pretty devastating. Several people we know had the windows smashed out and siding stripped off or damaged on west side of the house and cars were totaled. We also got lucky because we were hiking on the southern edge of town and caught out in the open when it hit. I hate to think of how bad it would be to get pelted with hail like that. The high wind and driving rain alone was like getting sand-blasted.
